Tragedy at Newton, CT

There have been tragedies before in America but this latest massacre in Newton, Connecticut, is something that Americans will never forget. When the beginning of the killing’s unfolded at Sandy Hook Elementary, no one imagined that the any of the slain would be children. 20year old Adam Lanza stormed the Elementary school in what is still an unspecified rage, killing what many thought at first were only the principal and the child psychologist. Unfortunately the unthinkable had happened, Lanza went on a terror throughout the school killing many more. After parent, and law enforcement feared the worse, their nightmares were reality, Lanza had unleashed his rage on innocent defenseless children. When police were finally able to canvas the school the bodies of teachers and small children were scattered amongst classrooms. A total of 6 adults murdered and 20 children ages 6-7 hbad their lives ended much too soon. President Obama, who is est to make a formal speech Monday night said, “to newton: our hearts have wept with you all night, these tragedies must stop”.

Oregon Mall shooting

Before this unbelievable massacre in Connecticut, there was another rampage across the country in Portland, Oregon. As usual police are still unsure as to what possessed 22 year old Jacob Tyler Roberts to walk in a local mall and open fire with an AR-15 semiautomatic rifle. Along with killing machine he was strapped with many magazines of ammo, in hopes of killing dozens at the mall. Once he descending on his killing journey his gun jammed but he still was able to get it back working killing 2 and wounding a few others. The innocent victims killed were a 45 year old woman and a 54 year old ma, both said to be married and prominent people in the community. There was also another victim wounded who continues to be in serious condition. The 15 year old girl was shot in lung and liver and is stable but faces some risk from the complications. Although there is an ongoing investigation for, police still have yet to find a possible motive.

Mrs. Clinton was scheduled to testify this Thursday before the House Foreign Affairs Committee regarding the deadly attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi. At the time of her concussion she had previously been suffering from a stomach virus which probably led to the dehydration. Deputy assistant secretary of state, Phillipe Reines said she is being monitored by doctors and is recovering at home. Secretary Clinton has a lot on her plate in the upcoming weeks; however her doctors have recommended that she continue whatever work she can at home. With the Nations best interest at heart, Clinton will not attend the hearing this Thursday she will forgo her meeting and leave it to senior assitants

Saints beat Goodell

After a long battle with the Roger Goodell and the NFL, New Orleans Saints players have officially been vindicated from the infamous bounty scandal. All New Orleans Saints players are cleared of any wrong doing, as there was no sufficient evidence linking them to any bounty activity. It’s safe to say the commissioner Goodell is the least bit embarrassed about the allegations that eventually were simply that, allegations. In a statement Goodell could not help but still make derogatory remarks in reference to the Saints players citing that they should not feel good about this victory. Nevertheless the players do and will feel very good about the situation. Vilma, Fujita, Hargrove, and Smith will need all the boost they can get to help a Saints team that needs to win their last games of the season to have a shot to play in the playoffs.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL PLAYOFF: Can't come soon enough

As another season of college football wraps up and many teams are preparing for their bowl games, the college football playoff discussion peaks again. This season was another perfect example of why the sport so desperately needs one. Either so many teams are on the cusp or a few get robbed somehow. It seems every year no matter how great of a season, a few teams will get the short end of the stick. With several teams having virtually the same record, who gets the privilege of deciding who goes to the big dance and who settles for the 2nd place game? For a few years now it’s been a BCS computer that tally’s the records, stats, and factors in strength of schedule. However even the computer seems to get it wrong and at the very least is unprepared for the possible scenarios that lie ahead heading into postseason play.

This season there was one undisputed #1 and that was the fighting Irish of Notre Dame but from #2 on down an argument could be made for 4 different teams. Defending champion Alabama coasted in the SEC before their lone loss against Heisman winner Johnny Manzell and the Texas A&M Aggies. Florida, Oregon, and Kansas State all finished with just one loss as well, and they’re all the proverbial odd men out. A Cinderella Kansas State team played in a league without a conference championship game however that’s not their fault, nor would it have mattered. The Jayhawks led by NFL ready QB Colin Klein, went 11-1 and beat 5 ranked teams including #6 Oklahoma and #18Texas in the finale. The Oregon Ducks who were arguably this year’s most dominant team, obliterated just about every opponent they faced. Heisman candidate running back Kenjon Barner and QB Marcus Mariota also led their respectively to an 11-1 record, with 5 ranked victory’s as well, for an average of 46 points a game. Will Muschamp and the Florida Gators were right there among the elite teams this season as well. The Gators struggled against weaker opponents but won impressively against the juggernauts of the SEC. Florida, like defending champion Alabama didn’t win their conference championship game but got a BCS bowl invite with 6 ranked victories, 2 of which were top 5. All 3 of these powerhouse teams surely have a case for a National Championship bid but with another close season like this only a playoff will fairly determine who deserves a shot.

An official date for the highly anticipated college football playoff has not been set. However we can only hope it’s a season or two away at the latest. With this playoff, the arguments of who belongs and who doesn’t will cease and we will finally see the matchups we’ve longed for. Conferences like the SEC have been labeled a “bias ranking” conference after last year’s champ Alabama received a National Bowl invite without winning their own conference. The computers apparently didn’t think the other teams were strong enough and that their controversial strength of schedule was tough enough to yield a second chance at LSU which they ultimately beat for the crown. Playoffs will eliminate these so called mistakes and scenarios. At the very least it will give the Cinderella’s like Kansas State a chance to prove they belong in the ship. Who knows, in the playoff era we could see a 2 or 3 loss team holding the crystal ball.

"MARIJUANA" Party in Seattle, Its official

Let the partying begin in Seattle, Washington. Thousands gathered in the streets of Seattle at midnight to not only celebrate the legalization of marijuana, but to smoke as well. With no police officers around or able to arrest them, they waited until the clock struck 12 and then crowds smoked marijuana in unison. Television reporters and camera men were doused with marijuana smoke while attempting to interview some of the excited smokers. After this year’s election, Washington and Colorado became the first states to vote to decriminalize and regulate the possession of an ounce or less of marijuana by adults over the age 21. This law will eventually allow people to register for state licenses for pot growers, processors and retail stores. Colorado will have to hold off on their big weed party until January 5th, that’s when their law officially kicks in.

There are still technicalities involving the marijuana law. Citizens are technically still breaking the law when smoking publicly, however the first offense is a warning and the 2nd is punishable by fine. Last night was such a joyous occasion, Seattle police decided not to bother with warning citations. Although the kinks in the new marijuana law still have to be worked out, citizens right now are enjoying not having to worry about jail time. It’s going to be a fine line between legal and illegal when everything is set in stone.

Kobe Hits 30K and is 5th on the list

As the league stands right now in this era, there is no question that the comparison to the competition around the league is as fierce as it’s ever been. Wilt, the Big O, and MJ all stood virtually alone when it came to scoring ability and domination. Today’s league features an onslaught of scorers such as Lebron James, Kevin Durant, Dewayne Wade, and Carmelo Anthony to name a few. At age 34 and retirement knocking on the door, for Kobe Bryant to be able to not only still score with elite players in today’s league but lead them in scoring is nothing short of remarkable. This season he has already captured one spot on the 30,000 point list but at 30,016 if he stays on pace he will skip Wilt as well, who currently sits in the 4th place with 31,419. Headed into next season, which he says will be his last, and presuming he’s healthy, Kobe will need less than 700 points to past Michael Jordan for 3rd on the all-time scoring list. Accomplishing that feat with the type of superstars in this era should earn Kobe a few more votes in that “Kobe versus Michael”argument.

The age old dispute of whose better Kobe or Michael could go on forever, but one thing that will not be disputed is Bryant’s place among the scoring greats. Coming into last night’s game against the Hornets, Kobe would need just 13 points to grab hold of 5th place on the all-time scoring list. He would get that easily, finishing with 26 and becoming the youngest player to eclipse 30,000 mark. Just before the game Kobe was asked about joining the elite group of players with 30,000 and he said “I’m beyond proud, I’m happy and it’s a huge honor, to say the least. Whenever you hear those names and you think about the amount of players who have played this game, to be in that kind of company is always extremely, extremely special.” That company he is referring to is Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Karl Marlone, Michael Jordan, and Wilt Chamberlain.

Bryant, who is currently the leagues scoring leader with about 28 a game, hasn’t slowed down a bit at his ripe old age of 34. Last season he nearly won the scoring title, but before the last game he decided to sit it out and hand it over to Kevin Durant, stating he much rather win a championship instead. Although the Lakers as a team hasn’t looked anything near impressive, Kobe has gone on another scoring terror, surpassing the 30 and 40 point mark a few times this season. 3 to 4 seasons ago many were starting to utter statements like he’s “losing a step”. He apparently was listening and took offense to those statements. He has shown us that although he may have lost a step physically, mentally he’s gain 2. Not only he is finding new ways to score but he’s making it look easy.

Still no answers in K.C’s Jovan Belcher’s murder-suicide

A day after the Kansas City Chiefs pick up their 2nd win of the season, police still have unanswered questions into a recent murder -suicide. Chiefs Linebacker Jovan Belcher took the life of his girlfriend Kasandra Perkins and hours later his own at a Kansas City Chiefs facility. Belcher shot Perkins numerous times and then drove to practice where he said his goodbyes to his coach and general manger before turning the gun on himself. The police are looking at every possible angle right now but so far haven’t found a clear cut motive as to why Belcher committed such a heinous act. Chief’s players and the family of both Belcher and Perkins are stunned and are having difficulty coping with this unusual grief. There were no suspected issues or problems from Belcher and his girlfriend; friends say nothing they knew of fueled such violence. Police say an investigation will go on as long as they need to bring both families closure.

The Duchess is preggo

The royal family may be welcoming a newcomer to the kingdom real soon. Not long after tying the knot, Prince William and Catherine are expecting their first child. The news was on the hush for quite some time but the cat was finally let out of the bag. The baby speculation was put to rest when the duchess checked into a hospital for morning sickness. However upon her arrival doctors have seemed to found more than morning sickness. Her symptoms are a tad bit more severe than the usual so doctors plan to hold on to Catherine for at least an overnight stay. Sources say she is 10-12 weeks along in her pregnancy. Although this is certainly news to England, it’s almost kind of expected. After a new marriage in the royal family, a new baby is born usually born within about 2 years of the marriage. Kate and Will are at 19 months, close enough.

Obama warns Syria

It’s been no secret that there is a fierce war going on in Syria. Surprisingly, America hasn’t dabbled too far into outside wars in the Middle East, until now. Since the start of this battle it’s been anything goes with as many people dying as 100 a day. Apparently the Syrians are ready to take it to the next level with this war. American intelligence has received reports that Syrians are planning to use chemical warfare. In the President’s speech in Washington Barack said "I want to make it absolutely clear to Assad and those under his command, the world is watching. The use of chemical weapons is and would be totally unacceptable, and if you make the tragic mistake of using these weapons, there will be consequences and you will be held accountable". U.S officials would not go into detail as far as what and how but they did say the evidence is surmountable and action will be taken.

Chris Brown is back on Twitter

 Chris Brown
The time has come. Chris Brown is back on Twitter. After this lil battle he had on the site with comedian Jenny Johnson last week where he in turn deactivated his account. Sunday the pop star reactivated his account. After a "long" 6 day away from his beloved twitter fans he returned and so did his more than 11 million followers. The question is, "What will his 1st tweet be".
Recently he talked with XXL Magazine explaining his use of Twitter over the years.

"I haven't been as mature and thought out in the past, so, me growing now, it shown my progression," he said. "I used to use my Twitter account to vent, but now i mostly use it for marketing and promotions. Even if the media asks me something, if its cool then, 'its whassup' But if its anything that's too negative, i don't care to respond."

While being quiet on Twitter, he has been much more vocal on Instagram. Breezy shared a pic of the two over the weekend. The two were posted up together with a caption that say,  "What would music sound like today if these kids didn't exist?"
On the other hand Johnson added a post on GQ.com about the conflict of herself and Brown. Where she actually took responsibility for the whole situation.
Here is what she said,
"I didn't expect my name to be in entertainment news, but it is, and it is because I started it," wrote Johnson. "I won't say I regret what I did, but I will say I have learned from it. I chose to turn a lazy Sunday watching football with my husband into a total s---storm."
Well im sure there is plenty of fans out there that love the Brown that chooses to vent on social sites but we will all agree that it better to just keep quiet sometimes .
