“Think Like a Man” review and recap

After the battle at the box office this weekend, Steve Harvey’s “Think like a man” ended with the top number of $33 million. This should definitely come as no shocker, the best-selling book may have been getting mixed reviews but numbers don’t lie, movie goers flocked. The movie beat “Hunger Games”, who claimed the top spot for a number of consecutive weeks. Question is did “Think like a man” live up to the hype, and is it a must see?
IAMTHEINFLUENC was in theatres this weekend for the much anticipated film, ready to critique and report. Right away from the beginning the audience was captivated by the funniest man in the business right now, Kevin Hart. Hart, throughout the entirety of the movie, mixed in his one of a kind punch lines at the perfect time. The theatre was anything but quiet during his antics, which were unexpected but opportune. No other comedic presence would of blended better with this plot and supporting actors, than that of Kevin Hart.
On to the plot, which some critics harshly critiqued, all in all was well done. Director, Tim Story did an excellent job utilizing the talent of his actors and placing the right role for the right actors and actresses. However this wasn’t that hard of a task, with veteran actors like Micheal Ealy, Taraji P. Henson, and Regina Hall. They meshed well with young actors Terrence Jenkins and Chris Brown. As things started to spice up a little, Story’s plot really was able to grab the attention of the viewers by exploiting the dating situations discussed in Harvey’s book. Women were able to relate, and men, despite being spotlighted, were able to get a good laugh. Needless to say it made for great conversation on the car ride home.
____ As if the film didn’t have enough of Hollywood’s elite, it featured some celebrity cameos. Some of the who’s who included singers, Keri Hilson and Kelly Rowland, comedians, Bruce Bruce and Luenell,  and professional basketball players, Matt Barnes, Shannon Brown, Ron Artest, Rashad Butler, Darren Collison, and Lisa Leslie. When it was all said and done, Steve Harvey could add successful film follow up to best-selling book, along with his other long list of achievements. This is without question a must see with no disappoints that completely lives up to the hype. If you haven’t seen it yet, make sure u do!
You be the critic and tell us, what’s your thoughts on the movie?

Steve Harvey’s best seller pushing for best at the box office.

After holding down the top spot at the box office, “Hunger Games” is about to take a backseat. At the end of a great opening on Friday, Steve Harvey’s “Think like a man” earned a cool 9 mil Friday night. The star studded movie was projected to make about 17 mil for the weekend, so far it’s on pace to make about 30 mil. A 30 spot should definitely secure the top spot, surpassing “Hunger Games”, who was on a terror at the box office for weeks.
Steve Harvey has been successful with a hit sitcom, best-selling book, radio syndicate, game show, and now he’s struck gold with a box office gem. The film features many stars, who all play the perfect roles. The leading men in the movie are Micheal Ealy(The Barbershop), Jerry Ferrara(The Entourage), Kevin Hart(Soul Plane), Terrence Jenkins(BET’S 106&PARK), Romany Malco(40 year old virgin), and Gary Owen(Comedian). The beautiful ladies include Taraji P. Henson(Baby Boy), Meagan Good(Waist Deep), Regina Hall(Scary Movie), Gabrielle Union(Daddys little girl), and La La Anthony(You got served).
Although the box office numbers look great thus far, there has definitely been mixed reviews by critics. Some are raving about how great the movie is and its mixture of comedy with a hint of therapy. Others are saying that the movie is too much advice and not much of a story line. Many are praising Harvey and his clever segments where he chimes in, while others see it as unnecessary self-promotion.  One thing there is no debating and that is the movie goers are not being persuaded away and are flocking to the theatres.
